About robert-bresson.com

robert-bresson.com was founded in 2001 by Trond S. Trondsen and Doug Cummings as a tribute to the French filmmaker Robert Bresson. Built for scholars and admirers of his work, it has grown into one of the most comprehensive online resources dedicated to his life and art.

Our mission is to research, preserve, and share materials related to Bresson's filmmaking career. In keeping with his famously private nature, we focus on his artistic legacy rather than his personal life. We strive to present rare and meaningful content not easily found elsewhere, made possible through collaboration with filmmakers, crew members, authors, editors, researchers, and photographers who have generously granted permission to publish their work here.

With fluency in multiple languages, the webmasters are also able to translate important materials into English, expanding access to resources previously available only in other languages.

This is a completely non-commercial site. All costs are covered by the webmasters, and all content is provided free of charge. The site is designed to be simple, fast, and accessible — free from ads, pop-ups, and unnecessary technical elements. Every page is hand-coded and optimized for performance.

robert-bresson.com is a proud founding member of the Masters of Cinema Organization, the web initiative that later evolved into the Eureka! Masters of Cinema Series (DVD/Blu-ray).

Our purpose is simple: to deepen understanding and appreciation of Bresson's work, and to serve the global community of cinephiles in any way we can.
